Start clean.

Start with a clean vase and fresh water. The mysterious residue from the last bouquet is not a family heirloom.

Use the flower food.

Add flower food if available, following the packet’s directions. A little something for the flowers.

Give the stems a fresh start.

Trim the stems every few days with clean, sharp snips. A fresh cut, a fresh start.

Check in. Briefly.

Change the water regularly. Fresh water is a small gesture your flowers will appreciate.

Choose a kind spot.

Keep your flowers in a cool spot, away from direct sun and heat. That warm radiator ledge has been disqualified.
