The Thanksgiving Host Gift You Can Grab on the Way

The Thanksgiving Host Gift You Can Grab on the Way

For a Thanksgiving host gift in Salt Lake City, grab a ready to buy Suncrest bouquet on your way. The Loki Coffee stand is open daily from 7 am to 5 pm, the Trolley Square machine daily from 6 am to 10 pm, and the Millcreek Common machine 24/7. Holiday hours and stock may vary.

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26 this year. Somebody is roasting a turkey. Somebody else is bringing a dish. You have been told to "just bring yourself," which everyone knows is not true.

A bouquet solves it, and you do not have to plan for it.

What is a good host gift for Thanksgiving?

A good host gift is something the host can enjoy without having to do anything with it tonight.

Hosts get a lot of wine. Wine is fine. But by the end of the evening it tends to join a row of other bottles on the counter, and nobody remembers who brought which one.

Flowers work differently. They go on the table or the windowsill and stay there after the dishes are done. The host sees them the next morning, and they remember who brought them.

A few things that make a host gift a good one:

  • It is ready when you hand it over. No assembly, no setup.
  • It does not compete with the meal. Flowers will not clash with anyone's pie.
  • It outlasts the evening. That is the whole point.

Suncrest bouquets are hand tied and wrapped in kraft paper, ready to hand over. Good flowers. Right where you already are.

Where can I buy flowers on the way to dinner?

Suncrest Flowers sells ready to buy bouquets at three spots in the Salt Lake Valley. Pick the one on your route.

Loki Coffee stand 325 E 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84111 Beside the main service counter. Open daily, 7 am to 5 pm. Pay at the counter with the cafe team.

Trolley Square vending machine 602 E 500 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84102 Inside Trolley Square at the West entrance, next to Olive & Cocoa. Open daily, 6 am to 10 pm.

Millcreek Common vending machine 1354 E Chambers Ave, Millcreek, UT 84106 Outdoors, outside Millcreek City Hall at the Common. Open 24/7.

At both machines, choose a bouquet on the screen, tap your card, collect your bouquet when the compartment unlocks, and close the door. No order ahead, no appointment.

For directions and details on all three locations, see the full guide.

Can I grab flowers with my coffee at Loki?

Yes. That is the easiest version of this whole plan.

The Loki Coffee flower stand sits beside the main service counter. Pick a bouquet from the stand and pay at the counter with the cafe team, along with your coffee. Suncrest has had Grab & Go bouquets at Loki Coffee since January 2024.

Buy flowers like you buy coffee. On a busy holiday week, at the same time is even better.

Keep the hours in mind. The Loki Coffee stand is open until 5 pm. If your dinner starts later and you are heading over in the evening, Trolley Square is open until 10 pm and Millcreek Common never closes.

Are the locations open on Thanksgiving Day?

Here is what is published for regular hours:

  • Loki Coffee stand: daily, 7 am to 5 pm
  • Trolley Square vending machine: daily, 6 am to 10 pm
  • Millcreek Common vending machine: open 24/7

Holiday hours may be different from regular hours. Before you head out on the day, check @suncrestflowers on Instagram for recent updates and location information.

Stock is the other thing to know. Flowers sell at different rates through the day, and the machines are restocked based on demand and availability. There are no holds or reservations, so you cannot set a bouquet aside for Thursday.

The low stress move is to buy earlier in the week. A bouquet bought on Tuesday or Wednesday, kept in water in a cool spot, is ready to hand over on Thursday.

Also worth knowing: stock and colors change with the season. Suncrest uses Utah grown stems when in season, local farms whenever possible, and trusted growers worldwide the rest of the year. So you will choose from what is there, not from a specific flower or color you had in mind.

How should the host care for the bouquet?

The host is busy. Make it easy for them.

If you can, bring a clean vase or jar with you, so the flowers go straight into water without anyone leaving the stove. Then pass on these basics, which work for any Suncrest bouquet:

  1. Use a clean vase.
  2. Add flower food.
  3. Trim the stems every few days.
  4. Change the water regularly.
  5. Keep the vase in a cool spot away from sun and heat.

That last one matters on Thanksgiving. A kitchen with the oven running all afternoon is not a cool spot. The dining table or a room away from the stove is a better home for the day.

Here are the care tips to pass along, written out so you can send the link to the host the next day.
